Carla Skaates, DDS

Dr. Skaates is an Upper Peninsula native originally from Hancock. Her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College was in mathematics. Dr. Skaates then graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1999. She completed a 1 year Advanced Educational Residency in General Dentistry with the United States Army in Germany.

She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and is the past president of the local Superior District Dental Society. Dr. Skaates and her employees are involved in supporting the dental program at Bay Cliff Health Camp. She also provides onsite dental care to the residents of the Jacobetti Veteran's Home.

In her free time Dr. Skaates likes to play the piano, practice yoga, bike, garden, and kayak. Dr. Skaates looks forward to meeting you and welcoming you to her family of patients


Dr. Anja Hoffstrom

Dr. Hoffstrom was born and raised in Marquette and has happily returned home to raise her family and practice dentistry. She has been practicing in the Marquette area and is excited to join the Superior Dental Care team and continue caring for her community.

Dr. Hoffstrom first started working as a dental assistant in 2005 and worked in two different offices- one as an orthodontic assistant and another as a general dentistry assistant and front office staff member.

Earning her undergraduate degree in dental hygiene from the University of Michigan in 2011, she practiced hygiene in Marquette for one year. She then returned to the University of Michigan, earning her dental degree in 2016.

She is member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and Superior District Dental Society.

Outside of work, Dr. Hoffstrom spends time exploring the beautiful U.P. outdoors with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys golfing, music, traveling, cross-country skiing, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
